As part of our telecommunications expansion through Australasia, the Shack Group has chosen the city of Perth, Australia to host our new administration and data facilities. The Perth Data Centre will offer our clients and customers advanced data processing and storage capabilities to better improve global communications. With a high focus on security and redundancy, the Shack Group looks forward to the launch of its data center in the last quarter of 2007 as a stable platform by which to step into new markets and technologies that are growing throughout Asia Pacific.
This year, Siphem is organizing a new focus towards Western Europe as it prepares to launch business services in London. Traditionally, Siphem has been involved in debt recovery and fraud prevention services for corporations, retail establishments, and ecommerce businesses. With this new step, Siphem aims to break into other related industries in one of the world’s largest economic zones. This is the culmination of many years of hard work and collective planning, building relations in London and throughout the European Union.
Following internal assessment planning, Shack Group hopes to launch its VET accredited Information Technology and Business education programs for first semester in March 2009. The Shack Group currently uses Open Source software at all levels of the corporation, from server configurations, operating systems, and programming languages, to web development, telephony solutions, and email. As Open Source software is developed for free use and distribution, we are looking for ways to give back to the community that produces it. Our Open Source Community Support program will operate at the user, development, and community levels to provide software contributions, themes, new modules, bounties, and donations to Open Source projects across multiple platforms.
The Shack Group will begin a service program in 2009 working directly with the Australian Aboriginal community groups to develop vocational training programs in information technology for students and adults. The indigenous inhabitants of Australia remain marginalized in contemporary society, and suffer disproportionately the effects of poverty, lack of educational resources, unemployment, and racism. We hope to provide resources and encouragement to Aboriginal groups to document their historical culture online.
